When I started this series I loved it. It was cute and interesting. I loved Damon and Miles and Ever and Riley. I thought it was great. I admit to dozens of eye rolling, but over all it was an enjoyable series. I loved Damon's cockiness. Haven's cupcakes. Miles and his many boyfriends. And oh oh oh, the red tulips.

So I must ask, Alyson Noel, sweetie, what happened?

It all went downhill after Shadowland. The writing became horrible, the characters annoying. Damon became like an emotionally abusive boyfriend. Ever wouldn't stop whining. And don't get me started on Jude, Ava and Haven. The only characters that I seemed to enjoy were Miles, the twins, and on occasion, Ever. And why did Noel stretch out finding the antidote in 4 books? FOUR BOOKS! Come on now!

And as for this book in particular, I gave it a 2.5. Why you ask? Because I liked Adelina's story, the tree of life, and the last few chapters where Damon and Ever really hash it out and get to finally do the deed. Plus, the cover is pretty cute with the lotus blossom and everything. You can say a lot of bad things about this series but the the covers are usually breathtaking.

It makes me so sad when a series goes bad. I'm just so happy this dang series is over.

“We spend our lives getting caught up in all the wrong things--led astray by our minds, our egos, seeing ourselves as separate from each other, rather than listening to the truth that lies within our own hearts, the truth that we are all connected, we are all in it together.”

“When you think about it, in the big scheme of things, our time together is like a dash of spice in a big cosmic soup--important for richness of flavor, but still, not quite the main ingredient.”
