Fever by Lauren DeStefano

Title: Fever
Author: Lauren DeStephano
Pages: 341 stars
Rating: 4/5 stars

"Rhine and Gabriel have escaped the mansion, but danger is never far behind.

Running away brings Rhine and Gabriel right into a trap, in the form of a twisted carnival whose ringmistress keeps watch over a menagerie of girls. Just as Rhine uncovers what plans await her, her fortune turns again. With Gabriel at her side, Rhine travels through an environment as grim as the one she left a year ago - surroundings that mirror her own feelings of fear and hopelessness.

The two are determined to get to Manhattan, to relative safety with Rhine’s twin brother, Rowan. But the road there is long and perilous - and in a world where young women only live to age twenty and young men die at twenty-five, time is precious. Worse still, they can’t seem to elude Rhine’s father-in-law, Vaughn, who is determined to bring Rhine back to the mansion...by any means necessary.

In the sequel to Lauren DeStefano’s harrowing Wither, Rhine must decide if freedom is worth the price - now that she has more to lose than ever."

I devoured this book! Can you say gorgeous?! This book was so magical and perfect and heart breaking. It made my heart hurt. I can't deal with these feels! DeStefano's writing is so beautiful I want to become its best friend and frolic through the flowers with it. The drugs, the prostitution, the ferris wheel, the tents, the answers, the dialogue, the pain, the love, the sickness, the experiments, ugh I cant deal. Oh Linden, Oh Gabriel, Oh Rhine. You guys are beautiful. This book is one long drugged journey mixed with passion and pain. That's what I should call this book, passion, pain and prostitution.

And Ok. I know the cover looks kind of silly, but once you read the book you will understand. The tarot cards, the dress, the drugged face, the horse, you will all get it, and understand why this is one of the best movie covers. Who ever did this cover certainly read the book!

Everyone needs to read this book. It's rare when a sequel is just as good as the first book, but this book is not only not disappointing but it exceeds expectations.

Plus one of my favorite characters has my name! (Maddie)
